Are you a recent graduate with 1–2 years’ experience in electrical or mechanical engineering, looking to build a hands-on field service career?

Our client, a leading manufacturer of high-precision electro-mechanical equipment used in production environments, is looking for a Trainee Field Service Engineer to join their growing team.

Working with both electrical and mechanical systems, this role combines hands-on technical expertise with customer-facing responsibility, requiring you to diagnose electrical and mechanical faults efficiently, commission new equipment on site and provide training to customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Traveling across the UK to install, service and repair machinery at customer sites. (60% field based and 40% site).
  • Responding to urgent breakdowns, diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Carrying out planned maintenance and servicing activities.
  • Installing new equipment and commissioning machines on customer sites.
  • Delivering face-to-face training to customers on safe operation and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Supporting the manufacturing team with electrical wiring, control panel assembly and machine testing.

Who They’re Looking For:

  • Experience as an Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Field Service Engineer.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Experience with control systems and basic C++ programming, or willingness to develop this skill.
  • Knowledge of wiring, control panels and machine assembly.
  • Problem-solving ability with a proactive, independent mindset.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Self-motivated approach with flexibility for travel.
