Our client are continuing to expand and we are currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join their day shift team. This is a great opportunity to secure a stable role with excellent development prospects in a supportive working environment. You will help ensure the smooth running of our transport operation for a major client and recognised brand.
Role Responsibilities:
- Plan daily fleet maintenance to ensure efficiently, balancing compliance, costs, resources, and customer needs.
- Keep planning systems accurate and up to date with all operational changes.
- Manage changes to operational requirements and understand their impact on cost and resources.
- Produce clear short-term and forward-looking fleet plans
- Identify potential issues early and put practical solutions in place to maintain service levels.
- Support vehicle servicing schedules, MOTs, documentation, and compliance activities.
- Maintain a good working knowledge of UK and European transport rules and best practice.
- Work with Fleet and Compliance Managers to arrange Irish fleet repatriation for MOT when needed.
- Identify and report cost or resourcing issues and provide cost-effective solutions.
- Work with an awareness of budgets, margins, and profit and loss.
- Work closely with Transport Operations to ensure smooth job delivery.
- Liaise with Finance and Operations teams to confirm plans are workable and affordable.
- Communicate clearly with operational teams, and internal stakeholders.
Key Skills
- Previous experience working within a third-party haulage or logistics environment.
- Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK and European driver compliance rules and transport regulations.
- Proven ability to problem-solve with a positive, proactive, "can-do" attitude.
- Experience working in a cost-driven organisation with practical knowledge of budgeting, and cost control
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office, with an excellent working knowledge of MS Excel.
- High attention to detail with a structured and accurate approach to work.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build effective internal and external relationships.
- GCSE Maths at Grade C / Level 4 or above.
- Experience working with numerical, financial, and operational performance data.
- Knowledge of UK, European, and international geography.
- Previous experience supporting fleet servicing schedules, MOT planning, and vehicle documentation.
