Exciting Opportunity for a Tree Inspector in Leicestershire

£16-17/hour Umbrella PAYE

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a reliable and experienced Tree Inspector to join my client's Forestry team in Leicestershire.


This is a key role responsible for inspecting and assessing roadside and County Council-owned trees, identifying potential hazards, monitoring tree health, and ensuring public safety. The ideal candidate will have experience in arboriculture and tree inspection, with a strong focus on safety, record-keeping, and compliance.


The main duties of the Tree Inspector include:


·Inspecting trees adjacent to highways and other County Council sites to identify defects and potential hazards.
·Assessing tree health, structural integrity, diseases, disorders and pathogens.
·Preparing reports and plans relating to defective trees and recommending remedial actions.
·Establishing tree ownership and providing technical information to support the serving of notices where required.
·Maintaining accurate records of tree inspections, inventories and asset databases.
·Monitoring the progression of Ash Dieback and preparing reports on findings and management recommendations.
·Issuing work instructions to contractors and inspecting completed works where required.
·Assisting with emergency tree-related incidents and responding to urgent safety concerns.
·Liaising with members of the public, landowners, contractors and internal stakeholders.
·Contributing to the wider delivery of forestry and arboricultural services across the County.


The Tree Inspector will have key experience in:


·A minimum of 4 years' practical and/or technical experience within forestry or arboriculture.
·Visual tree assessment and identification of structural defects.
·Knowledge of tree species, pathogens, diseases and disorders.
·Experience producing technical reports and maintaining accurate inspection records.
·Experience using IT systems, databases and mapping software.
·The ability to manage workloads independently and work methodically.
·A BTEC or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Arboriculture or equivalent.
·A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel independently throughout the County.
