Our client is a successful and growing business with multiple sites. They are seeking a skilled Vehicle Technician / Mechanic to join their Derbyshire site. The successful candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of vehicle makes and models. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for automotive technology and a strong mechanical aptitude to develop their skills within a dynamic environment. Candidates must be organised, detail-oriented, and capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of a team.
Duties of Vehicle Technician / Mechanic
- Conduct comprehensive inspections to identify mechanical issues and faults
- Perform repairs and maintenance on engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components
- Use hand tools and power tools to carry out repairs accurately and efficiently
- Test vehicles post-repair to ensure proper functioning and safety standards are met
- Maintain detailed records of work carried out, parts used, and time spent on each task
- Assist with vehicle diagnostics using specialised equipment and software
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies
- Assist in the organisation of workshop tools, equipment, and parts inventory
Experience
- Proven experience working as a Vehicle Technician / Mechanic or in a similar automotive repair role
- Strong mechanical knowledge of various vehicle systems and components
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for repairs and maintenance tasks
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely when handling vehicle parts or equipment
- Experience with diagnostic software is advantageous but not essential
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
