Salary: £29,000 - £31,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 7:00pm
We are seeking a dependable and proactive Yard/Warehouse Operator to support the day-to-day running of our depot. This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who values safety, accuracy, teamwork, and delivering excellent service.
The Role
As a Yard/Warehouse Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring stock is handled safely and efficiently, customer orders are prepared accurately, and warehouse and yard operations run smoothly. You will play an important role in maintaining high operational standards while contributing positively to the wider depot team.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety & Compliance
Follow all health and safety procedures and complete required inductions.
Operate equipment safely and in accordance with company standards.
Wear and maintain appropriate PPE at all times.
Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults promptly.
Assist in monitoring depot assets to ensure compliance with legal and company requirements.
Warehouse & Yard Operations
Safely load and unload delivery vehicles.
Follow Goods In and Goods Out procedures, including checking, storing, picking, packing, and dispatching stock.
Ensure stock is stored correctly and rotated where necessary.
Prepare customer collections accurately and on schedule.
Monitor stock levels within picking locations and report shortages.
Maintain a clean, tidy, and organised warehouse and yard environment.
Support the processing of returns and report damaged goods.
Drive the company delivery van when required.
Work in line with rota arrangements and scheduled break times.
Communication & Reporting
Report delivery issues, incidents, and operational concerns in a timely manner.
Communicate absence or other relevant HR matters appropriately.
General Duties
Provide support with additional depot duties as needed.
Promote positive teamwork and open communication across the depot.
Follow company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Performance Measures
Accuracy and efficiency of picking and deliveries.
Effective stock control and rotation.
Compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
Skills & Experience
GCSE/O-Level standard education.
Full UK driving licence is essential.
Forklift or telescopic handler licence is desirable.
Good knowledge of local routes and transport networks.
Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
Product knowledge would be advantageous.
