An excellent opportunity to support a growing manufacturing business to coordinate all their onsite welding.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and industry requirements.
  • Provide welding engineering support during Technical Review and Production Planning activities, ensuring efficient and effective project execution.
  • Manage welding competency and qualification matrices, ensuring personnel are appropriately trained, qualified, and assigned to tasks aligned with their capabilities.
  • Conduct audits of subcontractor welding activities to verify compliance with approved procedures, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Carry out routine Health, Safety, Environmental, and compliance inspections, promoting a safe and compliant working environment.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, and 5S methodologies, to enhance quality, efficiency, and operational performance.
  • Develop, monitor, and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs), undertaking root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions to address non-conformances and performance issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and supervision to welding personnel during the preparation and execution of complex or critical welding operations.
  • Collaborate closely with the Compliance team to ensure the effective integration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of management systems.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a similar role within an engineering, manufacturing, or fabrication environment.
  • Sound working knowledge of quality management systems and industry standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 3834.
  • Demonstrable experience in the development, qualification, and implementation of welding procedures and associated documentation.
  • Ability to work independently, exercising sound judgement, initiative, and strong problem-solving skills to resolve technical and operational challenges.
  • Strong commercial awareness, with the ability to consider broader business objectives and contribute to strategic decision-making.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications and other relevant business and engineering software systems.
