Salary: £45,000 – £55,000 per annum DOE
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:30pm, 40 hours per week
Overtime: Paid at time and a half after 40 hours
DARA People are recruiting for an experienced Workshop Manager to join Utranazz, a long-established, family-run business specialising in concrete equipment across the UK and internationally.
This is a hands-on leadership role based at a busy Bicester workshop. The successful candidate will manage daily workshop operations, coordinate engineers and fitters, and ensure concrete equipment, heavy plant and machinery are serviced, repaired and prepared to a high standard.
The Role
As Workshop Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day running of the workshop, planning jobs, prioritising workloads and supporting the team with technical guidance where required.
You will work closely with service, hire, parts and operations teams to keep equipment moving efficiently while maintaining strong standards of quality, safety and productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily workshop workflow, job planning and priorities
- Supervise engineers, fitters, apprentices and workshop staff
- Oversee servicing, repairs and inspections of concrete pumps, mixers, batching plants and heavy plant equipment
- Allocate work based on skills, urgency and availability
- Diagnose technical issues and provide hands-on support where needed
- Ensure machinery is prepared and checked before delivery, hire or customer collection
- Monitor job progress, productivity and quality standards
- Maintain accurate service, repair, inspection and parts records
- Ensure health and safety, housekeeping and workshop standards are followed
- Support staff training, development and performance management
Requirements
- Previous experience as a Workshop Manager, Workshop Supervisor, Service Manager, Lead Engineer or Senior Fitter
- Strong mechanical background within heavy plant, HGV, construction equipment, agricultural machinery, hydraulics or similar
- Good knowledge of diagnostics, servicing, repairs and preventative maintenance
- Experience leading engineers, fitters or workshop teams
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Good attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety
- Basic computer skills for job records and service documentation
- Full UK driving licence preferred
Knowledge of concrete pumps, mixers, batching plants, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding/fabrication, Sage, CRM systems, CSCS, forklift or plant tickets would be advantageous.
