Yard Operative

Proactive Personnel are currently looking for several Yard Operatives to start work immediately in Garstang, PR3.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to load, unload, and move materials around the yard
• Assist with warehouse management system updates to track inventory movements accurately
• Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage and organisation in the yard
• Participate in shipping and receiving activities, including preparing goods for dispatch or receipt
• Load and unload lorries using appropriate manual handling techniques and mechanical equipment
• Conduct routine maintenance checks on machinery and equipment to ensure safety standards are met
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment by adhering to health and safety protocols
• Support construction-related tasks as required, including materials handling on-site
• Assist with general yard duties such as sweeping, organising storage areas, and waste disposal

Requirements

• Previous warehouse or construction experience is preferred but not essential; training will be provided for specific tasks
• Valid forklift licence is highly desirable
• Mechanical knowledge or background in materials handling is advantageous
• Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems is beneficial
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail
• Physically fit with the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
• Strong team player with good communication skills
• Willingness to undertake training related to health & safety procedures and equipment operation

Hours of work are Monday to Friday 07:00am- 17:00pm.
