Yard Operative (with Driver Cover)

Jackson Hogg are currently recruiting for a Yard Operative to join a busy depot operation. This is a hands‑on role supporting yard, depot and transport activities, with responsibility for covering driving duties when drivers are on leave.

The successful candidate must be comfortable driving a 7.5 tonne vehicle and hold a valid Driver CPC.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting daily yard and depot operations to ensure efficiency, safety and service standards are met
• Providing driving cover as required, including delivery, collection and exchange work
• Completing vehicle checks, reporting defects and ensuring compliance with transport regulations
• Inspecting returned equipment, recording damage and ensuring correct documentation is completed
• Assisting with stock control, parts issuing, goods in/out and general depot administration
• Maintaining the yard, buildings and work areas in a clean, tidy and hazard‑free condition
• Assisting colleagues across the depot to meet operational and customer requirements

Health & Safety

• Working in line with company Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures
• Wearing appropriate PPE and reporting accidents, incidents or near misses
• Ensuring safe loading/unloading for all vehicles on site

Requirements

• Experience working in a yard or depot environment
• 7.5 tonne driving experience
• Valid Driver CPC
• Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
• Flexible, reliable and safety‑focused approach
