Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in the Cippenham area of Slough (SL1) to appoint a passionate and dedicated Year 6 Class Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative school community and play a key role in preparing pupils for their transition to secondary education.

This role would suit an enthusiastic and motivated teacher with a strong understanding of Upper Key Stage 2 expectations and SATs preparation, who is committed to helping pupils achieve their full potential during this pivotal stage of their education.

The Role

As a Year 6 Teacher, you will support pupils in consolidating their learning, building confidence, and developing the skills needed for a successful transition to secondary school. You will play a vital role in preparing pupils for SATs while ensuring a broad, engaging, and enriching curriculum experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, creative, and differentiated Year 6 lessons in line with the KS2 national curriculum
  • Support pupils’ progress in reading, writing, maths, and SPaG
  • Prepare pupils effectively for KS2 SATs and the transition to secondary school
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Monitor and assess pupil progress, using data to inform teaching and targeted interventions
  • Support children with a range of abilities, including those with SEN
  • Promote pupils’ confidence, resilience, and independence
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and colleagues
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and the wider school team
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – desirable
  • Experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally Year 6 or Upper KS2
  • Strong understanding of KS2 curriculum expectations and SATs preparation
  • Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills
  • Engaging, adaptable, and nurturing teaching style
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work full-time in the Cippenham area (SL1) from September
Desirable
  • Previous experience teaching Year 6
  • Strong understanding of SATs frameworks and assessment requirements
  • Experience using assessment data to accelerate pupil progress
  • Experience supporting children with SEN
  • Commitment to inclusive, high-quality teaching and learning
  • Experience supporting pupils with transition to secondary education
