The Role

As a Residential Children's Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, nurturing, and stable home environment for children and young people. You will provide day-to-day care, emotional support, and guidance while helping individuals develop confidence, independence, and life skills.

You'll act as a positive role model, supporting young people through challenges and celebrating their achievements along the way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support children and young people with their daily routines, including personal care where required
  • Build positive, trusting relationships and provide emotional support
  • Promote safe behaviours and help manage challenges in line with care plans
  • Maintain appropriate boundaries, structure, and consistency
  • Support education, hobbies, and social development activities
  • Work in partnership with families, schools, and external professionals
  • Contribute to care plans, reports, and reviews with accurate record-keeping
  • Ensure the home remains safe, clean, and secure at all times
  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote the welfare of all young people

What We're Looking For

Essential:

  • Experience working with children or young people in a caring or support role
  • Understanding of child development and emotional needs
  • Awareness of safeguarding, including risks such as exploitation, self-harm, and domestic challenges
  • Ability to remain calm, resilient, and professional in challenging situations
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Children & Young People (or willingness to work towards this)
