1:1 Tutor - Permanently Excluded Students

Protocol Education

Tutor – PEX Students (Flexible, Part-Time, Full time)

Driving required: Yes, own vehicle desirable

Looking for flexible tutoring work where you can make a real difference?

We’re looking for passionate tutors to support PEX students across the Teesside area. These are young people who need a bit of extra support to reconnect with learning, build confidence, and break down barriers that may have held them back in the past.

This role is perfect for educators, youth workers, or experienced tutors who enjoy working one-to-one and know that building trust is just as important as teaching the lesson.

Sessions take place face-to-face in local libraries, community hubs, or sometimes in the student’s home, so being able to travel across the wide Teesside area is important.

What you’ll be doing
  • Planning and delivering engaging tuition sessions across core subjects
  • Supporting students who may present challenging behaviours
  • Building positive relationships that help students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
  • Adapting lessons to suit each student’s learning style and pace
  • Helping young people regain confidence in education
We’re looking for someone who
  • Has tuition experience or experience delivering one-to-one learning
  • Has worked with students with challenging behaviour
  • Comes from a youth work, mentoring, or education background
  • Is confident planning sessions independently
  • Holds a teaching qualification (desirable but not essential)
  • Can travel across Middlesbrough, Redcar, Stockton (driving and own vehicle preferred)
Why this role works well
  • Flexible hours that fit around other work or commitments
  • The chance to support young people who genuinely need it
  • One-to-one teaching, where you can see real progress
  • Varied working environments and meaningful impact
Protocol Education benefits
  • Weekly pay through PAYE, no umbrella companies
  • FREE access to our CPD Academy
  • Support from a friendly, dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities across mainstream, SEND, and alternative provision
  • Easy registration and local work opportunities

If you enjoy helping young people overcome barriers and rediscover learning, this could be the perfect role for you.
