Job Title: Operations Manager / Account Manager

Salary: £50,000 per annum + Company Car

Location: Office-based in Greater Manchester with regular site visits

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager / Account Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of a busy maintenance department. The role will be primarily office-based in Greater Manchester, with regular visits to live sites. This position is ideal for a proactive, organised manager with strong people skills and experience in reactive and external maintenance environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Management
    • Oversee the operational performance of the department
    • Ensure reactive and external maintenance projects are delivered efficiently and to a high standard
    • Act as the main point of contact for key client accounts

     

  • Fleet Management
    • Manage and maintain the company vehicle fleet
    • Monitor usage, servicing schedules, compliance, and costs

     

  • Training & Development
    • Coordinate and manage staff training requirements
    • Ensure operatives remain compliant with required certifications and standards
    • Carry out regular appraisals and performance reviews

     

  • Problem Solving & Operational Support
    • Resolve operational, staff, and site-related issues efficiently
    • Provide hands-on support to supervisors and operatives as required
    • Support continuous improvement across processes and performance

     

  • Financial & Commercial Duties
    • Oversee invoices and ensure accurate and timely processing
    • Support cost control and budget management within the department
    • Liaise with clients regarding queries, variations, and service performance

     

  • Site & Client Interaction
    • Regularly visit sites to monitor progress and standards
    • Maintain strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and internal teams
    • Ensure health & safety standards are upheld across all activities

     

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience in an Operations Manager, Account Manager, or similar role
  • Background in reactive and external maintenance projects
  • Strong people-management and leadership skills
  • Experience managing fleets, training, and staff appraisals
  • Confident problem-solver with excellent organisational skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
