Job Description
We are seeking a creative, enthusiastic and dedicated Art Teacher to join a successful secondary school in Coventry from September 2026.
The successful candidate will be passionate about inspiring creativity and self-expression, delivering engaging Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach Key Stage 5 depending on experience. You will encourage students to develop their artistic skills, explore a variety of media and techniques, and build confidence in their creative abilities.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or Early Career Teacher looking to join a supportive department committed to achieving outstanding outcomes and fostering a love of the arts.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver engaging and high-quality Art lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Inspire students to develop their creativity, technical skills and artistic confidence.
- Teach a range of artistic disciplines, including drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture and mixed media.
- Prepare students for internal assessments and external examinations where applicable.
- Assess, monitor and track student progress, providing clear and constructive feedback.
- Maintain high expectations for behaviour, effort and achievement.
- Create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment that promotes creativity and learning.
- Contribute to the development of schemes of work and departmental resources.
- Support extracurricular activities, exhibitions and enrichment opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and raise standards.
- Participate in parents' evenings, staff meetings and professional development activities.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- A degree in Art, Fine Art, Art & Design or a related subject.
- Experience teaching Art at secondary level.
- Strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for creative education.
- The ability to motivate and engage students of all abilities.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- A commitment to promoting high standards of achievement and inclusion.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience teaching GCSE Art is desirable.
- Experience teaching A-Level Art would be advantageous.
