Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking an Assistant Facilities Manager to support the contract management team in the delivery and ongoing development of service solution systems, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, compliantly and in line with contractual requirements.

This role plays a key part in identifying service improvement opportunities and maintaining a healthy, safe and secure working environment across designated sites. Working closely with stakeholders, the Assistant Facilities Manager will help ensure high standards of service delivery while supporting continuous improvement across operations.

The successful candidate will be a proactive individual with experience in facilities or cleaning services, capable of supervising frontline teams, managing resources responsibly and communicating confidently with customers and management at different levels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the contract management team in service delivery, system development and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety legislation, maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
  • Manage rostering of frontline teams, ensuring contractual cover and managing sickness and planned absences.
  • Ensure audits, COSHH, Health & Safety documentation, SOPs and related records are completed, reviewed and kept up to date.
  • Oversee recruitment, training, supervision and development of frontline staff, including appraisals and succession planning.
  • Ensure services are delivered in a commercially responsible manner, with effective cost control across labour, materials and consumables.
  • Manage customer queries and complaints in line with agreed procedures, ensuring accurate recording and timely resolution.
  • Support contract mobilisations, including TUPE transfers, and work collaboratively with other business sectors and support functions.

Person Specification

  • Experience delivering soft services within a facilities or cleaning services environment.
  • Proven supervisory and organisational skills, with the ability to work on own initiative while following management guidance.
  • Strong understanding of how service outcomes impact successful contract delivery.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and different levels of management.
  • Competent user of Microsoft packages.
  • Experience of liaising with engineers is desirable.
  • Full UK driving licence, with the ability to cover sites in Shrewsbury and Mold.
