About the Company:
Our client is a successful family-run farming business based in the heart of Dumfries & Galloway. The enterprise rears and finishes approximately 1,000 cattle across two farm units whilst growing feed crops to support the livestock operation.

Assistant Farm Manager - The Job Role Details:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Farm Manager to join a well-established beef rearing and finishing enterprise.

Working closely with the farm owners and wider team, you will play a key role in the day-to-day management of livestock and farm operations. This is a hands-on position offering significant responsibility and would suit either an experienced Assistant Farm Manager or an ambitious livestock professional seeking the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with the day-to-day management and welfare of cattle from approximately 3 months of age through to finishing
* Carry out TMR feeding and support feeding programmes
* Oversee bedding, mucking out and general livestock husbandry activities
* Monitor livestock health, welfare and performance
* Support the planning and organisation of daily farm operations
* Operate tractors and agricultural machinery across a range of seasonal activities
* Undertake mowing, slurry application, cultivation and harvest work
* Assist with maintaining farm records and operational compliance requirements
* Work closely with the farm owners to support continual improvement across the enterprise

Essential Candidate Skills & Experience:
* Proven livestock handling and stockmanship experience
* Demonstrable understanding of cattle welfare and husbandry
* Experience operating tractors and agricultural machinery
* Full UK driving licence
* Positive, proactive and reliable attitude
* Strong organisational and communication skills
* Flexible approach to working hours, including alternate weekends when required
* Desire to build a long-term career within the business

Desirable:

* Previous Assistant Farm Manager, Herdsperson or supervisory foreman experience
* Experience within beef finishing enterprises
* Telehandler certification
* PA1 and PA2 qualifications

Working Hours:
Full-time position, with flexibility required depending on livestock and seasonal demands.
