A welcoming and inclusive three-form entry primary school is seeking an experienced and committed SEN Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join their team from September.

The Role

This exciting opportunity is based within the school's EYFS/KS1 nurture provision, supporting children with Autism and a range of additional needs. Working closely alongside the class teacher, the successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a highly personalised and nurturing curriculum.

The HLTA will take responsibility for leading teaching and learning during afternoon sessions, managing the classroom environment and ensuring pupils continue to make strong progress. Dedicated planning, preparation and assessment (PPA) time will be provided alongside the class teacher to collaboratively develop both morning and afternoon learning opportunities and ensure continuity across the provision.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold HLTA status or have substantial experience working at HLTA level
    • Have experience supporting children with SEND, particularly Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
    • Be confident leading small-group and whole-class learning activities
    • Have a strong understanding of EYFS and Key Stage 1 practice
    • Be able to adapt learning to meet a range of individual needs
    • Have excellent communication and organisational skills
    • Be patient, nurturing and committed to helping every child achieve their full potential
    • Work effectively as part of a collaborative team
