We are currently recruiting for a Site Manager / Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of minor works projects across council-owned properties in Greater Manchester.

This role is ideal for someone looking to step up into site or project management, offering hands-on experience across live sites within a public-sector FM environment, with clear progression into a permanent role.

The Role

You will support the delivery of multiple small-scale refurbishment and maintenance projects (up to £70k), including bathroom refurbishments, electrical upgrades, and general building works across operational buildings such as community centres, museums, and public facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the day-to-day running of multiple sites across Greater Manchester
  • Supervise subcontractors and ensure works are delivered safely, on time, and to standard
  • Assist in delivering refurbishment and minor works projects (up to £70k)
  • Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks, and maintain H&S documentation
  • Monitor progress and report updates to senior management
  • Ensure compliance with client specifications and council standards
  • Liaise with building users and stakeholders to minimise disruption
  • Assist with site logistics, materials coordination, and organisation

Requirements

  • CSCS Card (any level considered)
  • SMSTS
  • 3-Day First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
  • Some site-based experience (construction, FM, maintenance, or refurbishment)
  • Trade background or understanding of building trades (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, electrical)
  • Basic IT skills (emails, reporting systems)
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites
