Be the adult who changes a young person's story.

Some young people need more than education. They need someone who believes in them, understands their challenges, and helps them see a future beyond the barriers they face today.

We are recruiting a Behaviour Mentor to join a specialist setting supporting children and young people who have experienced challenges in mainstream education due to social, emotional and behavioural needs.

This is a highly rewarding role for someone who is resilient, empathetic and passionate about helping young people succeed.

The Role

As a Behaviour Mentor, you will work closely with pupils who may struggle with emotional regulation, engagement in learning, confidence, attendance, behaviour or relationships.

You will:

  • Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students both in and out of the classroom
  • Help young people develop emotional regulation and coping strategies
  • Act as a positive role model and consistent adult presence
  • Support behaviour interventions and personalised support plans
  • Work alongside teachers, pastoral teams and external professionals
  • Encourage engagement, confidence and independence

We Are Looking For People With Experience In:

  • SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health)
  • Behaviour support
  • Youth work
  • Residential childcare
  • Children's care settings
  • Alternative provision
  • Sports coaching
  • Mentoring or pastoral support
  • Mental health support
  • Family support work
  • Criminal justice or rehabilitation services

School experience is beneficial but not essential. We are particularly interested in people who have worked with vulnerable young people and can bring transferable skills.

The Ideal Candidate Will Be:

✔ Calm and confident under pressure
✔ Able to build strong professional relationships
✔ Resilient and emotionally intelligent
✔ Passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers
✔ Able to maintain clear boundaries while remaining supportive
✔ Committed to helping every child achieve their potential

Why This Role?

This role is ideal for anyone considering a future career in:

  • Teaching

  • Counselling
  • Youth Justice
  • Social Work
  • Mental Health Services
  • Behaviour and Inclusion Support

If you believe every young person deserves someone in their corner and want a career where you can genuinely make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.
