We are seeking a dedicated, resilient, and compassionate Behaviour Mentor to join a thriving secondary school in South Manchester from September. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
The successful candidate will work closely with students, pastoral teams, teaching staff, and families to promote positive behaviour, improve attendance, and support student wellbeing across Key Stages 3 and 4.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small group mentoring for students requiring behavioural and pastoral support.
- Develop positive relationships with students to encourage engagement, confidence, and personal development.
- Support students in managing their behaviour both inside and outside the classroom.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral leaders, SEN staff, and external agencies.
- Monitor, record, and report on student progress and behaviour interventions.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of behaviour support plans.
- Support students during unstructured times, including break and lunchtime duties.
- Promote the school's values, safeguarding procedures, and behaviour expectations.

● Empathy, patience, and the ability to build trust.
● Experience working with young people, especially those with Autism, Learning difficulties, or SEMH needs.
● Familiarity with EHCPs and experience in tailoring support plans.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills to connect with students, parents, and professionals.
● A team-oriented mindset and a collaborative spirit.
● Previous experience in alternative education or working with excluded students (preferred but not essential).
● Relevant qualifications or training in youth work, education, or similar fields (desirable but not required).
