About the role
In your role as Business Manager - Pensions Delivery & Technology, you will make a meaningful and valued contribution from the outset. This role will provide a great opportunity to provide strategic, operational, and delivery support to the Chief Pensions Delivery & Technology Officer (CPD&TO) in fulfilling their responsibilities across Pensions Delivery, all associated functions, and Group IT.
The role will work collaboratively across these areas of the CPD&TO’s responsibilities to support and enable where appropriate the effective delivery of business priorities, enhance governance, improve organisational effectiveness, and drive efficiency in how the function operates.
A key aspect of the role is to support the coordination and management of senior governance forums, ensuring that agenda items and associated papers are effectively planned, produced to a high standard, and aligned to decision-making requirements.
The role will also play an important part in supporting Pensions Business-wide activities, including business planning, performance reporting and engagement with the Chief Pensions Strategy Officer and team members.
What you will be doing
As a trusted part of the Pensions Business Management team you will be responsible for:
Executive Support and Delivery Enablement
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief Pensions Delivery & Technology Officer, supporting prioritisation, time management, and representation in key forums.
- Enable delivery of business objectives by aligning teams, tracking progress, and ensuring timely execution of key actions and deliverables.
- Identify and address risks, issues and dependencies, contributing to strategic initiatives and cross-functional workstreams as needed.
Governance, Agenda and Papers
- Coordinate forward agendas for governance forums, ensuring alignment to key priorities and decision-making requirements.
- Oversee the production and quality of governance papers, ensuring they are concise, accurate, and decision-focused.
- Track actions and continuously improve governance processes, reporting, and documentation standards.
Business Planning and Performance Management
- Support business planning by coordinating priorities, KPIs, and milestones in collaboration with Finance and the wider Pensions Business.
- Monitor performance against objectives, ensuring clear visibility of progress, risks, and issues through effective reporting.
- Align financial planning, resource allocation, and functional plans with broader business strategy.
Operational Effectiveness and Continuous Improvement
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve efficiency, simplify processes, and enhance ways of working across the function.
- Strengthen delivery discipline, prioritisation, and consistency in management practices.
- Enable alignment and communication to support a high-performing, delivery-focused culture.
People, Leadership and Communications
- Support delivery of people strategy initiatives (e.g. talent, performance, organisational design) in partnership with HR.
- Facilitate leadership activities and promote strong communication of key messages, priorities, and decisions.
- Contribute to talent development, succession planning, and leadership capability building.
Pensions Business Coordination and Reporting
- Coordinate Pensions Business-wide activities and act as a key interface across Pensions Delivery & Technology, governance, and stakeholder groups.
- Lead production of high-quality business reporting, ensuring clear links between strategy, performance, risks, and outcomes.
- Support planning cycles and information requests, ensuring alignment, consistency, and timely delivery across the wider Pensions Business.
