Business Systems Manager/Analyst

CL Recruitment Group

We are recruiting for one of our clients in the Ammanford, Carmarthen area, for a Business Systems Developer.

A hybrid role, sitting at the intersection of analytical thinking and hands-on development. Both sides matter equally. They have a solid ERP system and a sharp reporting function — but a significant amount of work across the business still lives outside of those systems, in spreadsheets, email threads and manual processes that have built up over time. They are looking for someone who can change that. Not a consultant, not a project hire — a permanent member of the team who will map how they operate, cut out what is unnecessary, and build the technical solutions that make the rest run better.

Please note: this is not an IT support or infrastructure role. It is not a pure analysis role either. You will be expected to build things and be an integral part of the business to get every aspect of its systems, working smoothly and efficiently.

Work across all business functions — logistics, finance, planning, sales, purchasing and the shopfloor — to understand how work actually gets done

• Map current workflows end-to-end, identify duplication, unnecessary steps and wasted effort, and recommend what to eliminate, simplify or redesign

• Implement process changes directly where no technical solution is needed — some of the best improvements require no code at all

• Maintain a live improvement register and report monthly on what has been changed and what it has saved

Development and integration

• Build APIs and integrations that connect our systems and automate the manual handoffs currently sitting between them

• Develop internal applications where teams need purpose-built tools — owning the full solution from design through to deployment and ongoing maintenance

• Build integrations that pass data to and from Claude (Anthropic’s AI) to automate tasks such as document processing, data extraction and analysis

• Write clean, documented, maintainable code — you will own what you build and be expected to support it

Ownership and governance

• Audit and take ownership of informal or AI-assisted code already in existence within the business — assessing, documenting and where necessary rebuilding it properly

• Establish and maintain development standards so that internal tools are understood, supported and not dependent on a single individual

About you

Essential

• Strong analytical ability — you can observe how a business operates, ask the right questions, and identify where time and effort are being lost

• Proven development experience: API design and integration, building internal applications, and working with SQL databases

• Comfortable working at both the process and technical level — running a discovery session with a finance team one day, writing and testing an integration the next

• A practical, evidence-led approach — you reach for development only when it is the right solution, not the default one

• Strong communication skills: able to explain technical work clearly to non-technical colleagues and build trust across departments

• Self-sufficient and organised — you manage your own workload, prioritise effectively and deliver without needing close supervision

Salary is circa £50k, with flexibility for the right fit. For more information and immediate consideration from both the main consultant and client, please send through your details. We will respond within the first 24 hours with further detail and the interview process.
