Factory Manager - Chemicals

Location: Reading, UK
Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Friday, 9am-5pm
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000p.a

We are a leading chemical manufacturer with both UK and international customers, producing a broad range of specialty chemical products used across various industrial sectors. We are seeking a Factory Manager with a background in chemistry or relevant production experience working in industry. Candidates with experience in chemical production or similarly highly regulated manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day‑to‑day factory operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality manufacturing.
• Manage and support production staff, including training, performance reviews, and workforce planning.
• Oversee maintenance activities, respond to equipment breakdowns, and ensure reliable plant performance.
• Maintain stock accuracy, coordinate raw material orders, and ensure compliant waste management.
• Develop and monitor production schedules, resolving delays and driving continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain strong communication and operational alignment.

Skills & Qualifications

• 5+ years in manufacturing management (eg. chemical, materials or scientific industry)
• Strong leadership, problem‑solving, and organisational skills.
• Working knowledge of production planning tools (Sage 200 experience beneficial).
• Solid understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
