About the role
Do you want to enable children and young people who have been taken into care to have the best possible start in life? As a Children’s Support Worker (Residential) in Coedely, you will work on a 2:1 basis with other staff, supporting children in their homes to build independence, wellbeing, and safe, consistent routines. This Children’s Support Worker role in Coedely is ideal for people who are enthusiastic, resilient, and driven to make a measurable difference each day.

Key responsibilities

  • Support children and young people with day-to-day activities and interests as a Children’s Support Worker (Residential) in Coedely
  • Promote independence and wellbeing, ensuring each young person’s needs are understood and supported
  • Attend weekends away, holidays, and trips away with the children (as required) in Coedely
  • Support weekend and evening activities, from everyday interests to community outings
  • Protect children and young people from risks to health and welfare
  • Provide emotional and practical support within the home
  • Keep up to date with care plans and guidelines to support safe care
  • Support, overcome, and help minimise incidents when behaviour can be challenging

Requirements

  • Empathetic, caring, and resilient approach to safeguarding and outcomes for vulnerable children and young people
  • At least 6 months’ experience working with children or in a similar social care setting
  • Restraint training, restraint trained, or willing to undergo a 3-day course
  • Valid UK driving licence (required for the Children’s Support Worker (Residential) role in Coedely)
  • Current Enhanced DBS on the update service, or willingness to obtain one
  • Right to work in the UK
