We are recruiting for an experienced and hands-on Senior CNC Setter to join a well-established precision engineering manufacturer.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer with experience setting Doosan single spindle and Citizen twin spindle/twin turret CNC machines, who is looking to play an important role within a busy and growing production environment.

The successful candidate will support production efficiency, quality, tooling improvements, and workforce development, while also assisting with programming when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and optimise Doosan single spindle and Citizen twin spindle/twin turret CNC machines
  • Support production to ensure optimum efficiency, quality, and output levels are consistently achieved
  • Carry out programming adjustments and support programming requirements when needed
  • Assist with setting and operating other CNC machinery as production demands require
  • Drive continuous improvement across tooling, cycle times, and machining processes
  • Support improvements in machining stainless steel components
  • Inspect finished components to ensure they meet engineering drawings and customer specifications
  • Read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Resolve machine, tooling, or process issues and escalate where necessary
  • Use a range of measuring equipment to verify tolerances and component accuracy
  • Support and mentor apprentices and existing team members to help develop engineering skills across the business
  • Work closely with management on tooling improvements and future machine capability requirements

Candidate Requirements

  • Proven experience setting CNC sliding head and twin spindle CNC machines
  • Experience with Doosan and/or Citizen machinery
  • Basic programming knowledge and the ability to make adjustments where required
  • Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and production efficiency
  • Experience machining stainless steel components
  • Ability to read and interpret technical engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of tolerances, inspection, and quality standards
  • Experience using precision measuring equipment
  • Positive and proactive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Willingness to support and train apprentices and other team members
