Commercial Financial Controller
WeDoTech
Salary: £110,000 to £140,000 + bonus + equity + flexible working
Location: England Remote
Work Type: Full Time Permanent
The Role:
WeDo is partnering with a high-growth, VC-backed fintech business operating in a highly innovative and evolving market. The business is at a pivotal stage in its journey, having scaled through significant change and now entering a new phase focused on commercial maturity, operational excellence, and strategic growth.
This is not a traditional Financial Controller role.
You will operate as a true commercial finance partner to the CEO and senior leadership team, owning financial modelling, forecasting, strategic insight, and financial control in a lean, high-accountability environment. The role offers direct exposure to board-level decision making, future acquisition activity, and the opportunity to shape how finance operates within the business moving forward.
The environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and best suited to someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving problems, and wants genuine ownership.
Responsibilities:
• Own commercial FP&A activities including forecasting, scenario modelling, and cash flow analysis
• Build and improve automated financial models and reporting processes
• Deliver meaningful financial insights to support strategic decision making
• Partner closely with the CEO and senior stakeholders on business performance and growth planning
• Manage core financial control responsibilities including reporting, month-end oversight, and governance
• Support board reporting and investor-related financial discussions
• Improve operational efficiency through automation, AI tooling, and smarter finance processes
• Work closely with the Finance Manager to ensure smooth day-to-day finance operations
Required Skills:
• Strong background across FP&A and financial control
• Experience within high-growth, VC-backed, startup, or scale-up environments
• Commercially minded with the ability to communicate financial stories clearly
• Advanced financial modelling and forecasting capability
• Comfortable operating in lean teams with broad ownership
• Strong stakeholder management and ability to influence senior leadership
• Confident working in fast-moving and sometimes reactive environments
• ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or equivalent experience
• Exposure to automation, AI tooling, or finance transformation initiatives is highly desirable
Why should I apply?
This is an opportunity to step into a genuinely high-impact finance role where you will have visibility, ownership, and influence from day one.
You will work directly alongside senior leadership in a business that is scaling toward its next phase of growth, with exposure to strategic initiatives, board-level decision making, and potential future M&A activity.
The role offers significant autonomy, a strong level of trust, and the chance to shape finance operations rather than simply maintain them. For the right person, there is a clear pathway toward broader finance leadership responsibility over time.
