Job Description for the Commercial Gas Service/Breakdown Engineer:
- Attend service calls and reactive breakdowns to fault-find, diagnose, and complete repairs efficiently and cost-effectively
- Use knowledge and boiler fault-finding expertise to achieve high first-time-fix rates and deliver excellent customer service
- Complete day-to-day responsive maintenance, servicing and repairs
- Perform servicing and safety inspections on all heating systems, identifying any work required to maintain system performance and ensure compliance with current gas/oil safety regulations
- Respond to boiler and system breakdowns, assess faults, and determine the work required
- Install commercial boilers and associated plant
- Make informed decisions when repair needs differ from the original job order and notify the relevant person
- Liaise with management and/or clients to ensure all works are completed to the expected standard
- Ensure all works and repairs are carried out safely and in accordance with current codes of practice
- When procuring materials, ensure a best-value and cost-effective approach is followed
- Gas experience within the commercial sector, including analysing, fault finding, service, repair and maintenance on gas/heating installations and appliances
- Must have qualifications in the following: ACS – CCN1, CENWAT, HTR1, CKR1, CDGA1, CIGA1, TPCP1, TPCP1A, CORT1, COMCAT
- Working knowledge of test equipment, including an electrical multimeter
- Flexible approach: due to the travel aspect, this is a mobile position that will involve travelling to multiple sites across the West Midlands
- Be part of the emergency call-out team on a rota basis (1 in 6-8 weeks)
- Ability to work under own initiative as well as within a team
- Willing to undertake further training/development within the post as required
- Good communication skills
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Basic IT Skills
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Salary: £50,000 - £55,000 + on-call and overtime payments
