Carshalton College is seeking an ambitious and experienced Deputy Head of School to help deliver an outstanding student experience, enabling learners to achieve their qualifications, progress successfully, and develop the skills needed for employment and lifelong learning.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and management across a range of curriculum areas, while contributing to the wider management and operational functions of the School and College. You will oversee the effective delivery of programmes, including recruitment, enrolment, retention and achievement, and work closely with the Head of School to support budgeting, performance and partnership management.

You will play a key role in shaping and developing a high-quality, responsive curriculum that meets the needs of learners, employers and funding bodies. This includes ensuring provision remains flexible and aligned to local and regional skills priorities, employment priorities and national policies.

The role will also lead on the monitoring and continuous improvement of quality standards and provision, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and awarding body expectations. You will oversee quality assurance processes for teaching and learning, ensuring alignment with best practice and compliance with GLA, Local Authority, Ofsted and ESFA requirements, including safeguarding, Prevent, British Values and health and safety.

As our Deputy Head of School, you will hold relevant professional qualifications as well as a recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, DTLSS, DET etc) and an up-to-date record of professional development. You will have proven experience of effective teamwork, both as a leader and as part of a team with strong awareness of future developments that influence the curriculum, in particular the needs of the local and regional economy.

You will have in-depth knowledge of how to plan, budget, resource and monitor the curriculum, and have a thorough understanding of what makes for excellent evidence-based teaching, learning and assessment as well as how to monitor it effectively. You will have comprehensive knowledge and understanding of national standards, and what excellent curriculum provision and outcomes look like, and strive to set and achieve high professional standards in everything that you do.
