Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Services
We are currently recruiting for an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join a Children’s Residential Home in Cardiff, supporting some of the most vulnerable children and young people.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a service that places children and young people at the heart of everything it does. Working within a strengths-based and trauma-informed environment, you will help create positive outcomes and provide high-quality care for children and young people during short-term residential placements of up to 12 weeks.
The Role
As Deputy Manager, you will support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day operation of the home, ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding and regulatory compliance are maintained at all times.
You will play a key role in leading and developing the staff team, promoting positive relationships and ensuring children and young people receive the support they need to thrive.
Key Responsibilities

Support the management and administration of the children’s home

Ensure high standards of care and safeguarding are maintained

Lead, motivate and develop staff to deliver excellent outcomes

Promote the voice, rights and independence of children and young people
-
Build positive relationships with families, professionals and partner agencies
-
Assist with staff supervision, performance management and development
-
Support budget monitoring and effective use of resources

Chair and attend meetings, reviews and planning discussions
-
Complete assessments, reports and care planning documentation

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory standards
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
-
Significant experience working with children and young people in a residential childcare setting
-
Experience at Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader or Deputy Manager level

A relevant qualification meeting the criteria for Social Care Wales registration
-
A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent
-
Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills
-
Experience of staff supervision and supporting service delivery
-
Knowledge of safeguarding practices and child development
-
The ability to work collaboratively and make sound decisions under pressure
Desirable Experience
-
Knowledge of the Regulation and Inspection of Social Care (Wales) Act 2016
-
Experience of behaviour support models and trauma-informed practice
-
Experience of budget management and resource allocation
-
Previous experience chairing meetings and preparing reports
