Rubicon is recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded engineering business in the Wareham area, working on advanced maritime technologies where precision, reliability and engineering discipline aren't "nice to have", they are the standard.
This is a Senior Design Engineer opportunity for someone who wants real technical ownership, the space to think properly, and the influence to shape what "good' looks across design.
Why this role exists: The work is complex and the stakes are high. They need a Senior Design Engineer who can lead mechanical design activity end-to-end, from concept to architecture through CAD, documentation, review, and integration support with a methodical, engineering-led approach.

What you'll be doing as Senior Design Engineer:
- Leading the design and development of mechanical systems for complex applications
- Producing and reviewing CAD models, drawings and technical documentation
- Defining system architectures, materials and components to meet engineering requirements
- Supporting integration, testing and commissioning across disciplines
- Conducting design reviews and ensuring compliance with technical standards
- Collaborating with suppliers and stakeholders to resolve technical challenges
What you'll bring:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related discipline)
- Strong understanding of mechnical design disciplines including stress, materials and maufacturability
- Proficiency in CAD software (Solid Edge preferred)
- Experience designing for cost, reliability and testability
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and translate them into robust solutions
- Knowledge of systems engineering or multidisciplinary design environments
