The RoleWe are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Teacher of Design & Technology, specialising in Resistant Materials, to join our department from September 2026.
The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, engaging and practical lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with a focus on design, manufacture, and material understanding. You will inspire students to develop creativity, precision, and technical skills through workshop-based learning and design projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a forward-thinking DT department with strong uptake at GCSE and a commitment to excellence in practical education.
Key Responsibilities- Teach Design & Technology with a specialism in Resistant Materials across KS3 and KS4
- Deliver engaging, safe and well-structured practical and theoretical lessons
- Develop students’ skills in designing, modelling, and manufacturing products
- Ensure high standards of health and safety in workshops and practical environments
- Support students in using tools, machinery, and CAD/CAM software effectively
- Contribute to curriculum planning, resource development, and assessment
- Monitor, assess, and support student progress to achieve strong outcomes
- Contribute to enrichment activities such as STEM clubs, competitions, and showcases
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Strong subject knowledge in Design & Technology, specifically Resistant Materials
- Experience teaching practical workshop-based DT at KS3 and KS4
- Ability to teach design processes, material properties, and manufacturing techniques
- Confidence using CAD/CAM software and workshop equipment (desirable)
- Strong classroom management and commitment to safe practice
- A passion for hands-on, creative, and industry-relevant learning
