About the Company
Our client is a leading construction and engineering contractor delivering complex projects across the UK within the Data Centre, Logistics, Pharmaceutical, Food Manufacturing and Advanced Manufacturing sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects across the South of England, they are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to join their team.
The Role
The EHS Manager will play a key role in promoting and maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance across multiple construction projects. Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors and senior management, you will drive a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and company procedures.
This is a site-based role requiring regular travel across projects throughout the South of England, therefore a full UK driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation and continual improvement of the company's Health, Safety and Environmental Management Systems.
- Conduct regular site inspections, audits and compliance reviews across multiple projects.
- Provide expert advice and support to Project Managers, Site Managers and operational teams.
- Review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and health & safety training.
- Support the delivery and maintenance of ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and associated management systems.
- Produce detailed reports, KPI data and recommendations for senior management.
- Drive behavioural safety initiatives and promote a positive safety culture across all projects.
- Liaise with clients, regulators and external stakeholders as required.
- Ensure projects remain compliant with current UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
Candidate Requirements
Essential
- NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Previous experience in an EHS, HSE or Health & Safety Manager role within construction.
- Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- CSCS Card.
- SMSTS or SSSTS qualification.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections, investigations and RAMS reviews.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work independently across multiple project locations.
Desirable
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent higher-level qualification.
- Environmental qualification (IEMA or equivalent).
- Experience within Data Centres, Industrial, Manufacturing, Logistics or Large-Scale Construction projects.
- Membership of IOSH (GradIOSH/CMIOSH).
