English Teacher (Maternity Cover)

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Dewsbury to recruit a committed and passionate English Teacher to cover a period of maternity leave from September 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner to join a supportive department and make a meaningful impact on pupils' progress in English.

• Full teaching responsibility across Key Stages 3 and 4
• Planning, delivering, and assessing engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum
• Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports learning and behaviour standards
• Contributing to departmental planning and wider school life where appropriate

• A welcoming and inclusive secondary school serving the Dewsbury community
• Strong leadership with a focus on staff development and pupil outcomes
• Supportive English department with collaborative working practices
• Easily accessible via local transport links

• Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Has experience teaching English within a UK secondary setting
• Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills
• Is committed to upholding the Department for Education Teachers' Standards
• Shares a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children

Both experienced teachers and strong Early Career Teachers (ECTs) are encouraged to apply.
