Estimating Manager (Passive Fire Protection)

Role Overview

• Lead and manage the estimating function within a specialist passive fire protection contractor

• Oversee full tender lifecycle from enquiry through to handover

• Play a key role in securing and delivering profitable projects

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all tender submissions

• Review drawings, specifications, and tender documentation

• Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates

• Price passive fire protection packages including fire stopping, intumescent coatings and fire boarding

• Develop tender strategies to maximise success rates

• Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options

• Liaise with clients, main contractors, and internal teams

• Ensure compliance with fire safety regulations and industry standards

• Support pre-construction and early engagement activities

• Lead tender adjudication processes

• Manage workload and priorities within the estimating team

• Mentor and develop junior estimators

• Improve estimating systems, processes, and reporting

• Support smooth project handover to delivery teams

• Attend meetings, site visits, and pre-contract discussions

• Build and maintain strong client and supply chain relationships

Requirements

• Proven experience in estimating within construction

• Strong background in passive fire protection (essential)

• Experience pricing fire stopping, compartmentation, or similar works

• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Experience managing or mentoring a team (preferred)
