Supply Desk is delighted to be working with a nurturing and inclusive school in the Slough area to recruit a compassionate and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about early childhood development and committed to supporting young children with additional needs. The role would suit a patient, caring, and proactive individual who enjoys creating engaging learning experiences and helping children build confidence from an early stage.

The Role

As an SEN EYFS Teaching Assistant, you will provide dedicated support to young learners with a range of additional needs, including developmental delays, communication difficulties, and autism. You will help create a safe, stimulating environment where children can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the class teacher in delivering engaging, play-based learning activities tailored to individual needs
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with SEN
  • Assist with the development of early communication, social, and motor skills
  • Use visual aids, sensory resources, and structured routines to support learning
  • Help implement and monitor EHCP targets alongside teaching staff
  • Encourage independence and positive behaviour through consistent support
  • Support pupils with personal care where required
  • Help maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive classroom environment
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • Build positive relationships with parents and carers
Requirements
  • Experience working with children in an EYFS or SEN setting
  • A caring, patient, and nurturing approach
  • Understanding of early childhood development
  • Ability to support children with a range of additional needs
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Reliable and proactive attitude
  • Available to work full-time in the Slough area from September
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Knowledge of SEN, particularly ASD, speech and language needs, or developmental delay
  • Familiarity with approaches such as PECS, Makaton, or sensory play
  • Experience supporting children with EHCPs
  • Relevant childcare or TA qualification (e.g. Level 2 or 3)
