About the Role
We are recruiting on behalf of a specialist engineering business working at the heart of modern agriculture and irrigation technology.
This is a hands-on, field-based engineering role supporting farming and agricultural customers with the installation, servicing, and repair of large-scale irrigation and water management systems.
You will be working directly on equipment used in agricultural environments across farms and rural sites, ensuring systems run reliably during critical growing periods.
This is a varied, practical role - a mix of field service work and workshop-based engineering, focused on real problem-solving rather than routine maintenance.
Key Equipment You'll Work On
- Agricultural irrigation booms and hose reels
- Pumping stations and water distribution systems
- Hydraulic systems used in farm irrigation equipment
- Diesel-powered drive systems
- Electrical control panels, sensors, and automation systems
What You'll Be Doing
- Installing, servicing, and repairing agricultural irrigation systems on farms and rural sites
- Diagnosing mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, and electrical faults
- Working from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
- Supporting farming customers to keep irrigation systems operational during peak demand
- Carrying out testing, commissioning, and fault-finding on-site and in the workshop
- Recording service work accurately and professionally
- Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams
About You
We are particularly interested in candidates with hands-on engineering experience in agricultural or rural environments.
You may come from a background such as:
- Agricultural engineering / farm machinery
- Mechanical or diesel engineering
- Automotive, plant, or forklift engineering (with field service experience)
You should have:
- Strong practical engineering and fault-finding skills
- Experience working on mechanical, hydraulic, diesel, or electrical systems
- Confidence working independently on customer sites (often farms)
- A practical, "get the job done" approach
- Good communication skills when dealing with customers
- Full UK driving licence
Experience within agriculture or farming environments is highly desirable.
What's On Offer
- £37,000 - £40,000 salary (flexible for strong agricultural engineering experience)
- Varied field and workshop-based engineering work (not repetitive maintenance)
- Direct exposure to modern agricultural irrigation systems
- Long-term career development in a specialist agricultural engineering business
- Supportive technical team environment
