The Role
The successful Fitter will play a key role in the assembly and preparation of a range of distribution and power transformers, ensuring every product meets exceptional quality standards. Responsibilities include:
- Interpreting assembly instructions, blueprint specifications and parts lists
- Assembling components and subassemblies with precision
- Maintaining high workmanship standards and supporting OTIF delivery
- Completing all relevant works order documentation
- Reporting issues, shortages, or equipment breakdowns promptly
- Using a range of workshop machinery and hand tools
- Carrying out quality inspections on colleagues’ work where required
Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
- Hands-on experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering environment
- The ability to read and interpret mechanical and schematic drawings
- A mechanical or electrical qualification (apprenticeship desirable)
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment (advantageous)
- Exceptional attention to detail
