Graduate Mechanical Engineer

Location: Bury St Edmunds
Salary: £26,000 – £33,000 (Dependent on any industry work experience / plaements)
Contract: Permanent

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for a Graduate Mechanical Engineer or Junior Engineer to join a leading UK manufacturer, working on the design and development of high-tech electromechanical equipment.

You’ll be involved in the full product development lifecycle, from concept through to testing and refinement, with a strong focus on R&D and bespoke engineering solutions.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of design and hands-on engineering, and wants to develop their skills in a supportive, forward-thinking environment.

With direct exposure to senior leadership and real project responsibility, this is a fantastic platform to accelerate your engineering career.

Due to high interest in this position, we are specifically looking for recent graduates with strong A-Level results, particularly in Maths and Physics, alongside a relevant engineering degree.

The Role

  • Design and develop bespoke mechanical systems using SolidWorks
  • Support R&D activities including prototyping, testing, and product improvement
  • Work across the full product lifecycle from concept through to production
  • Collaborate with internal teams including electronics and production
  • Get hands-on with builds, testing, and shop floor problem-solving
  • Support continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering team

 

The Candidate

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering (or closely related discipline)
  • Experience using SolidWorks (academic or industry)
  • A strong interest in design, development, and hands-on engineering
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn
  • Ideally some understanding of electromechanical systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Strong A-Level results in Maths and Physics (highly desirable due to demand)
