Groundworker

Main job:
Prepare and maintain site grounds for construction of an Energy-from-Waste (EfW) plant. Includes earthworks, drainage, and basic civils.

Key Responsibilities
1. Site prep: Clear land, mark out areas, set levels
2. Excavation support: Dig trenches, load/unload materials, spread hardcore
3. Drainage & civils: Lay pipes, manholes, kerbs, and basic concrete
4. Keep site tidy: Clean roads, manage waste, and segregate materials
5. Safety: Follow site rules, wear PPE, report hazards
6. Plant operation: May need to operate small plant (e.g., dumper, breaker) if trained
7. Teamwork: Take direction from supervisors, work with other trades

Requirements – UK 2026
- Quals: CSCS card (green/labourer). NVQ in Groundworks a plus
- Experience: 1-2 years construction/labouring experience
- Skills: Manual handling, basic tools, teamwork
- Tickets: SMSTS (or willing to get), banksman if needed

Typical Day
- AM: Site arrival, PPE check, briefing
- Work: Dig, lay, clean, move materials
- PM: Tidy site, report issues
