Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions is hiring for a handy person to join their team in Sheffield.

As a Handy Person, you will help create a safe, clean, and welcoming environment where students and staff can thrive. Your work will support the smooth running of the school each day, ensuring buildings and grounds are well cared for and ready to support learning.

This is a hands-on role where no two days are the same. You will play an important part in maintaining school facilities, supporting cleaning activities, and responding to day-to-day maintenance needs. Working across a rotating shift pattern, you will help ensure the site remains safe, presentable, and fully functional from early morning through to the evening.

Responsibilities

• Carry out general maintenance and repairs across buildings and grounds
• Complete basic repairs such as plumbing, painting, carpentry
• Perform minor electrical tasks where appropriate and safe
• Support daily cleaning of classrooms, corridors, communal areas
• Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance checks
• Prepare rooms for events, assemblies, and activities
• Maintain outdoor spaces, including litter picking and upkeep
• Report maintenance issues clearly and in good time
• Follow health and safety procedures and safeguarding guidelines
• Work collaboratively, support colleagues, respond flexibly to changing needs

Essential qualifications and skills

• Practical, hands-on approach with strong problem solving skills
• Confident completing a range of basic maintenance tasks
• Good understanding of health and safety practices
• Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
