Our client, a reputable commercial vehicle service provider based in Reading, Berkshire, is actively seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their dedicated team.

  • Up to £23 per hour, depending on experience
  • Rotating shifts: 6am – 2.30pm and 2.30pm – 11pm, Monday to Friday
  • Overtime paid at x1.5 Monday to Saturday and x2.0 on Sundays and Bank Holidays

Duties as a HGV Technician:
  • Conduct repairs and routine maintenance on HGVs according to manufacturer specifications
  • Perform fault diagnosis using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques
  • Assist in road tests where HGV licences are held
  • Ensure full compliance with warranty procedures and accurately record all work performed
  • Support parts team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted
  • Complete all necessary documentation, including job cards and service sheets following Volvo standards
  • Report vehicle defects and maintain workshop facilities to high standards
  • Support roadside breakdowns as required
  • Contribute to the mentorship and training of new trainees and apprentices
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician; experience with Volvo vehicles is advantageous but not essential
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills as a HGV Technician
  • Proactive approach with excellent attention to safety and customer service
  • Full UK driving licence; HGV licence preferred but not essential 
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, adhering to health and safety policies
