Aatom Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced Interim Head of Revenues and Benefits to work on behalf of a local authority. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior leader to oversee a high-performing service and drive transformation across a complex and vital function.
The Role
As Interim Head of Revenues and Benefits, you will lead the full scope of statutory services, including Council Tax, Business Rates, Housing Benefits, Local Council Tax Support (LCTS), and Corporate Fraud.
You will act as the Council’s lead expert on Revenues and Benefits legislation, advising senior stakeholders and ensuring strong performance, compliance, and financial stability.
A key focus of the role will be the collection fund, alongside policy development and service transformation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the Revenues and Benefits service at a senior level
- Oversee operational performance across all functions
- Manage the annual review of the Local Council Tax Support scheme
- Drive service transformation and continuous improvement
- Support staff through periods of change
- Provide expert legislative and policy advice
- Engage with Councillors, MPs, and the Ombudsman
- Maximise income collection and financial performance
Requirements
- Significant experience at Head of Service level within Revenues and Benefits
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation
- Experience delivering service transformation
- Proven stakeholder management skills
Desirable: Knowledge of Civica systems
