Lead a Major Project, Manage a Team

The Company

A well-established main contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex building projects across the healthcare, education and commercial sectors. Due to the award of a significant new-build healthcare development, an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to take commercial responsibility for a flagship scheme from pre-construction through to completion.

The Role

The successful candidate will lead the commercial function on a sizeable (c£45m) healthcare project procured under an NEC form of contract. Responsibilities will include overseeing a ten-month pre-construction phase before transitioning into full project delivery on site, managing the commercial team assigned to the scheme and ensuring robust commercial controls throughout. This position offers genuine commercial leadership responsibilities, including client engagement, strategic decision-making and the direction and development of project commercial resources.

Flexible site and office based working (with home working on occasion if required) will apply to this position.

Experience Required

• Proven experience as a Senior or Lead Quantity Surveyor within a main contracting environment.
• Strong building construction background with experience delivering large-scale projects.
• Sound knowledge and practical experience of building (and ideally NEC) contracts.
• Ability to independently manage the commercial aspects of a project from pre-construction through delivery.
• Strong leadership, communication and client-facing skills.
• Experience managing and mentoring commercial teams.
