Purpose: Reporting to the Head of Engineering, the Lead Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading, managing and developing the manufacturing engineering function to ensure the delivery of robust repeatable products and manufacturing processes ensuring optimum work centre performance and product delivery.
This role provides Manufacturing Engineering leadership through the New Product Introduction (NPI) and serial build phases, drives improvements in quality, cost, and delivery, and ensures compliance with all the applicable standards and requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
General and Task Management:
Lead the Manufacturing Engineering function.
Lead Manufacturing Engineering production support for new product introduction (NPI)
Provide timely manufacturing Engineering lineside factory support to ensure delivery of NPI projects meet agreed schedules.
Provide industrialisation support for serial build manufacture (WI’s and tooling definition etc)
Provide timely function support for Design for Manufacture & Assembly (DFMA) reviews
Ensure manufacturing processes are suitable stable and repeatable.
Oversee department training to develop Manufacturing Engineer’s product & process knowledge.
Analyse, develop and optimize manufacturing processes to maintain robust SOP`s.
Implement process improvements and industrialisation to drive efficiency, quality and cost reduction.
Support Material Review Board (MRB) activities.
Lead continuous improvement activities.
Identify and support business investment through equipment and capabilities.
Support Operations in daily SQCDP line walks and process awareness.
Act as point of contact for all escalations within the Manufacturing Engineering team.
Provide regular performance/KPI reporting into senior leadership team.
Ensure that the Manufacturing Engineering team operates in accordance with any HSE policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
People Management:
Manage and lead the Senior Manufacturing Engineers ensuring adequate staffing levels, holiday, training, development and daily supervision.
Provide coaching and motivation to the Manufacturing Engineering team to ensure operational success.
Provide Leadership and mentoring of the Manufacturing Engineering team and identify clear expectations.
Consistently promote high standards through example.
Set team objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports.
Ensure that the team operates in accordance with any HSE policies and procedures to ensure the safety and wellbeing of staff and visitors.
Self-Management:
Support, comply and ensure complicity with Health & Safety regulations, the Company Handbook, Quality and Environmental standards, and all other Company policies and procedures.
