Long Term Futures are recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to join a welcoming primary school in North Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a strong pastoral team, supporting pupils who require additional emotional, behavioural and social support throughout the school day.
The successful candidate will work across the school, providing both 1:1 and small group mentoring interventions for pupils who may be experiencing challenges with behaviour, attendance, emotional regulation or engagement with learning. You will play a key role in helping children develop resilience, self-esteem and the skills needed to succeed both academically and socially.
The Role:
* Deliver 1:1 mentoring sessions for pupils requiring additional support
* Run small group interventions focused on wellbeing, resilience and social skills
* Support pupils with SEMH needs, behavioural challenges and emotional regulation
* Conduct regular wellbeing check-ins and monitor pupil progress
* Build positive relationships with pupils, families and staff
* Support behaviour management strategies across the school
* Work alongside teachers, the SENCO, safeguarding team and external agencies
* Encourage positive attitudes towards learning, attendance and school life
The Ideal Candidate
* Previous experience supporting children with SEMH or behavioural needs
* Experience working in a pastoral, mentoring, youth work or school-based support role
* Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
* Understanding of emotional wellbeing and trauma-informed approaches
* Ability to remain calm, patient and resilient in challenging situations
* Experience working with external agencies and support services (desirable)
* Relevant qualification in Education, Youth Work, Counselling or similar (desirable)
* DSL or safeguarding training would be advantageous
