The role uses a data-driven approach to optimise transport spend, manage supplier performance, and align logistics activities with production and customer delivery requirements to achieve best-in-class service.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead health, safety and environmental performance across logistics operations and third-party providers.
- Support transport procurement activities, including tenders, supplier selection, contract negotiations and benchmarking.
- Manage day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring alignment with production plans and customer service requirements.
- Monitor and improve logistics performance using KPIs such as cost, OTIF, capacity, and compliance.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, service reliability and sustainability.
- Maintain accurate logistics data, reporting, dashboards and CI plans.
- Lead by example to promote a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO9001 requirements, and all legal and regulatory standards.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior logistics or transport management role.
- Proven experience managing end-to-end logistics and transportation operations.
- Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, JDA).
- Good working knowledge of Transport Management Systems (e.g. SAP TMS, Aptean, Paragon, Transporeon, 3t).
- Demonstrable understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma).
- Experience implementing systems, processes, and performance improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to maintain accuracy under volume and pressure.
- Ability to lead, motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals.
- Capable of working effectively under pressure and consistently delivering against targets.
- Competent user of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
- Confident use of email and intranet systems.
- Full UK driving licence.
- CIPS, APICS or equivalent supply chain or logistics qualification.
- Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
- Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Turkish language skills (desirable but not essential).
