Mechspan are seeking a talented and motivated Logistics Engineer for Shotton Mill's £1.6 Billion Redevelopment Project. You will be responsible for leading continuous improvement across transportation and logistics operations, ensuring the cost-effective, safe, compliant, and sustainable movement of raw materials and finished products.

The role uses a data-driven approach to optimise transport spend, manage supplier performance, and align logistics activities with production and customer delivery requirements to achieve best-in-class service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead health, safety and environmental performance across logistics operations and third-party providers.
  • Support transport procurement activities, including tenders, supplier selection, contract negotiations and benchmarking.
  • Manage day-to-day logistics operations, ensuring alignment with production plans and customer service requirements.
  • Monitor and improve logistics performance using KPIs such as cost, OTIF, capacity, and compliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, cost reduction, service reliability and sustainability.
  • Maintain accurate logistics data, reporting, dashboards and CI plans.
  • Lead by example to promote a culture of accountability, engagement and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO9001 requirements, and all legal and regulatory standards.


Person Specification
Essential Criteria
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior logistics or transport management role.
  • Proven experience managing end-to-end logistics and transportation operations.
  • Strong knowledge of Warehouse Management Systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, JDA).
  • Good working knowledge of Transport Management Systems (e.g. SAP TMS, Aptean, Paragon, Transporeon, 3t).
  • Demonstrable understanding of continuous improvement methodologies (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma).
  • Experience implementing systems, processes, and performance improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to maintain accuracy under volume and pressure.
  • Ability to lead, motivate and inspire teams to achieve common goals.
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure and consistently delivering against targets.
  • Competent user of Windows and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Confident use of email and intranet systems.
  • Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Criteria
  • CIPS, APICS or equivalent supply chain or logistics qualification.
  • Membership of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT).
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Turkish language skills (desirable but not essential).
