MTrec recruitment are proudly representing our industry-leading client in their recruitment for a skilled mechanical fitter. This is a day shift position, and experience within heavy industry is essential.

The Job you will do:

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance, repairs, and installations.
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and manuals.
  • Replace and fit components, including bearings, pumps, motors, conveyors, and gearboxes.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Complete maintenance records and reports accurately.
  • Support machinery upgrades and improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to minimise downtime.

About you:

  • NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, apprenticeship, or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Experience in mechanical fitting or maintenance within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Knowledge of mechanical systems including hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
