Mechanical Project Engineer
London

MEP Contracting | Commercial Fit-Out & Refurb Projects

Some businesses talk about progression. Others actively create it.

My client is one of the fastest-growing MEP Contractors in the UK, delivering high-profile commercial fit-out and Shell & Core projects across London and the South East. Despite their growth, they have retained the culture and agility that made them successful in the first place, trusting their people, keeping decision-making close to the project, and giving employees the autonomy to develop their careers.

They are looking to appoint a Mechanical Project Engineer to support the delivery of complex mechanical packages across a range of commercial projects. This opportunity would suit someone looking to move beyond simply coordinating information and become a key part of project delivery, with a clear pathway towards Project Management.

The Role

Working closely with Project Managers, Construction Managers and site teams, you will play a central role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards.

You will be given genuine responsibility from day one and encouraged to take ownership of your work, rather than being confined to a narrow remit.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting the delivery of mechanical packages from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover
• Reviewing drawings, specifications and technical documentation
• Coordinating design information and ensuring technical compliance
• Managing RFIs and liaising with consultants, subcontractors and design teams
• Assisting with procurement activities and monitoring material deliveries
• Supporting programme management and tracking project milestones
• Providing technical support to site teams and helping resolve coordination issues
• Attending project meetings and maintaining accurate project records
• Assisting with commissioning activities and handover documentation
• Ensuring works are delivered in accordance with quality standards and Health & Safety requirements

Requirements

• Experience working as a Mechanical Project Engineer, Mechanical Engineer or Building Services Engineer within an MEP contractor environment
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services installations
• Experience delivering commercial construction projects
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• A proactive mindset and willingness to take ownership of project responsibilities

What's on Offer

• A genuine route into Project Management within a growing business
• The autonomy to make decisions and take ownership of your work
• Direct access to senior leadership and key decision-makers
• A collaborative culture with minimal bureaucracy and no unnecessary layers of management
• Exposure to high-profile commercial fit-out and Shell & Core projects
• The opportunity to join a business during an exciting period of growth
• A supportive environment where performance is recognised and rewarded

Benefits Package

• Competitive salary
• Travel expenses
• Private medical insurance
• Enhanced pension scheme
• Life assurance
• Performance-related bonus
• Annual leave entitlement plus bank holidays

This is an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Project Engineer who wants more responsibility, more visibility and a clearer route to Project Management within a business that genuinely invests in its people.
