Job Title Senior Mechanical Designer – 12 Month Contract
Summary We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join a major engineering project based in Birchwood Park, Warrington. This contract role is ideal for someone with strong 3D modelling experience and expertise in mechanical design who enjoys working on technically challenging projects. You’ll play a key part in supporting critical project delivery while working on a long-term assignment.
Salary Hourly rate – dependent on experience
Location and Working Pattern Birchwood Park, Warrington – hybrid
Client Overview You’ll join a leading engineering team delivering complex projects within the energy sector, with a strong focus on safety, precision and compliance.
Responsibilities
  • Produce and update 3D models and mechanical design drawings
  • Develop general arrangement drawings (GAs), sub-assemblies, detailed design drawings, layouts and mechanical flow diagrams
  • Support resolution of manufacturing technical queries, production permits and concessions
  • Provide input to testing queries and resolution of Findings of Benefit (FoBs)
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and project requirements
Must-have Requirements
  • Experience using Autodesk Inventor and Autodesk Vault (Basis or Vault Pro)
  • Working knowledge of BS 8888, BS EN ISO 8015, BS EN ISO 1101 and BS EN ISO 5459
  • Demonstrated background in machine/plant/equipment design and detailed design
  • Ability to support manufacturing and testing technical queries
  • Eligibility to obtain nuclear site clearance
Nice-to-have Skills
  • Awareness of Nuclear Engineering Standards and Specifications
  • Experience with DM desktop and record management systems
  • Design experience in a nuclear environment
  • Knowledge of SoMSR requirements
  • Experience creating O&M manuals and design risk assessments (BS EN 12100)
  • Understanding of CDM, SoMSR, PUWER and LOLER regulations
