We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school team from June 2026 through to July 2027.

This full-time role involves providing dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 7 pupil with Autism (ASC), ADHD and social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). You will play a vital role in helping the pupil access learning, regulate emotions, develop confidence and build important life skills.

The Role:

  • Providing 1:1 classroom and emotional support throughout the school day
  • Supporting engagement, focus and participation in lessons
  • Helping the pupil manage emotions, routines and transitions positively
  • Encouraging independence, communication and social development
  • Assisting with school work and adapting support where needed
  • Working closely with teachers, SEN staff and pastoral teams
  • Creating a positive, consistent and encouraging learning environment

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Psychology graduates or candidates with relevant experience are encouraged to apply
  • Personal or professional experience supporting individuals with Autism, ADHD, SEMH or learning difficulties is highly valued
  • Calm, patient, caring and emotionally resilient
  • Able to build positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries and expectations
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Interested in careers within Education, SEN, Mental Health, Youth Work, Counselling or Therapy
